Designer Inn & Suites

We were visiting Meskwaki over Valentine’s Day weekend, and since the hotel there was fully booked, we ended up here. Our room was 102, a regular one because all the designer rooms were taken. We paid $111 and change for two nights and were happy with the stay. The room and the rest of the place were clean. The outside was tidy and well kept, the bed was comfortable, and the staff were friendly and helpful. There’s an indoor pool, vending machine for drinks and snacks, and a continental breakfast with fruit, cereal, waffles, muffins, coffee, and juice. It’s an older hotel and hasn’t been updated, but it was still in nice shape. There was no elevator, and our room didn’t have a mini fridge or microwave. For an affordable, clean, comfortable place to sleep, it worked well for us, and we’d stay again.

For what I paid, the standard room was a good deal. It was clean and quiet, and the bed was comfortable. The odd thing was how loudly it rumbled whenever I moved, almost like bending sheet metal. There’s no elevator either, so getting upstairs could be a problem if stairs are difficult for you. I’d stay here again.

We had a really good time, with great service and a late checkout, even though we’d seen the negative reviews. The Northern lights room was exactly what we wanted for a quick getaway, and we liked it enough to book another night. The other themed room we switched to was just so-so, though. I’d especially recommend the Northern lights room.

The photos online make the rooms look much more polished than they are. They’re older and worn, and breakfast wasn’t good, especially the awful coffee. We were charged for the room twice, and five days later the credit still hadn’t shown up in our account. We also never got our $100 deposit back, even though we left the room in better shape than we found it. I’d stay somewhere else.
