Homewood Suites by Hilton Gateway Hills Nashua

The room was spotless, the mattress really comfortable, and breakfast was good. I’m picky and usually find something wrong with a room or its location, but not this time. We stayed overnight last Saturday with my husband. My one complaint: it was Mother’s Day, and although breakfast ran until 10 a.m., by 9 they were out of oatmeal, waffle mix, breakfast danishes, bread, English muffins, and more. They should put out more on a busy weekend.

The room itself was good, and the king bed was comfortable, but the bathroom was much too cramped. Its door almost hit the toilet, and the heavy glass shower doors were difficult to move. I booked through a third-party site and contacted the front desk, but they couldn’t help. The hotel’s website didn’t indicate that the booking hadn’t been made directly with them. They also don’t clean the room every day.

We spent ten days here enjoying fall in New England, and it was one of the best hotel experiences I’ve had. The place was clean and quiet, the rooms had good lighting, and the staff were friendly and helpful. The breakfast was much better than the usual hotel continental spread, with more choices. There are lots of restaurants and shops just down the street, and Highway 3, a main north-south route, is around the corner. It’s a great base in a perfect location. I’d highly recommend it, and we’d come back in a heartbeat.

The pillows are too soft and don’t hold their shape. The shower also never gets properly hot, or won’t stay hot while you’re using it. Otherwise, it was a decent stay.
