The best part was the honesty. I left my purse in the chest of drawers when we checked out Sunday. It had my cash and all my debit and credit cards in it. Motel 6 called to say the cleaning staff had found it. I arranged for my daughter to pick it up, worried about what to expect, but when she got it a few hours later, everything was still there. Everything. I'm handicapped and hadn't thought to request a ground-floor room when I booked. We arrived at 1 p.m., and when I asked, the young lady was happy to help. Within 15 minutes we were in our rooms. The rooms aren't perfect: there were stains in the tub, scratches on the counter, and a few other spots, and things could use updating. But it smelled clean when I opened the door, and the bed was clean and fresh. The staff were friendly and helpful, the location was great, the room was clean despite its imperfections, and the price was good. We stayed here this past weekend and had a good stay. If you're looking for a good place to stay, stop by. They leave the lights on for you, and tell them Janet, Woody, and Steve sent you.
The sheets were fresh, and I checked the bed for bugs as soon as we arrived. Everything looked good there. Still, the room wasn't worth the $106 we paid. I expected something a little nicer. There was no mini fridge or coffee pot, two-thirds of the lights didn't work, and the property looked neglected. The bathroom floor and shower looked as if they hadn't been cleaned in six months, and the parking lot was full of trash. Neither door worked properly. The front door had a warped frame and had to be kicked open, while the bathroom door wouldn't shut unless you Spartan-kicked it. Just after I parked my motorcycle outside the room, a man came out of his room with a big shiny grill in his mouth and rambled that his motorcycle had been stolen from that exact spot a few days earlier. The staff let me put my bike on the patio outside the lobby overnight, which I appreciated. I'm glad I carry a firearm, it gave me a little peace of mind.
The man who checked us in and out was really nice. I’d driven for more than 12 hours the day before, so I was just grateful to have a place to sleep and didn’t complain at the time. Looking back, I should have, because the room wasn’t worth what we paid. The air conditioner only cooled now and then, and the unit looked like it hadn’t been cleaned or maintained in a long time. There was mildew on the ceiling above the shower, which was disgusting, and the shower itself didn’t seem to have been properly cleaned in ages. We also had the wrong TV remote and had to call the front desk.
The beds were comfortable, and the sheets felt crisp and smelled fresh. The location is great, and it looks like some renovations have been done, but there are still details to sort out. Our door took force to open and close. The bathroom walls needed a better clean, though I got marks off easily with a wet washcloth and water, so the right supplies would make a difference. The tub’s finish was peeling and made it look worse than before it was refinished. The towel bar was very dusty, but that also wiped clean easily. This older hotel could be really nice once the remaining details are addressed.
The room was stifling hot when we arrived, and it smelled bad, so we dropped off our things and went back out. Later we found bugs in the shower and all over the beds. The bathroom sink wouldn’t shut off. When we reported the bugs, they moved us to another room, where the beds seemed clean, but black mold covered the bathroom ceiling, and I’m very allergic to it. Nothing looked clean, even the lobby stairs. We booked based on the photos, which didn’t match the hotel at all. For over $100, I expected more. I won’t stay here again.
