Magnolia Hotel, BW Signature Collection

The staff worked with me around my circumstances with my mom, though Priceline didn’t. The rooms were nice and the sleep was pleasant, and the location was convenient, close to everything. Both places had older furniture, but the breakfast was outstanding, better than the Grand Hotel.

The front desk staff were friendly, which was the one positive. We stayed eight nights and never had our room cleaned; I had to get towels and toilet paper from the desk. Housekeeping was so loud in the mornings I couldn’t sleep in. The lobby looked great, but our room was old and dirty, lit only by two very dim lamps. WiFi didn’t work, and the service in the rooms was awful. What was called a river view was actually a parking lot and some trees. This should be considered a motel, not a hotel. I don’t recommend it.

The front desk employee was understanding and helpful, the only positive in a terrible stay. We were in town with our 10-year-old daughter for the MS State gymnastics meet, and there was a long wait to check in. The hotel’s website had false advertising: the name had changed, and the exterior and lobby signage had been taken down. Magnolia Bluff BW Signature hotel seems to be called “hotel” now. Our room wasn’t up to par, with dead bugs on the floor and windows, a live beetle, hair in the bed, and knotty sheets. When we left to tell staff we were checking out, we found a chicken wing bone by the lobby elevator. The lobby vending area was completely empty too. This place needs major HELP. I’m sharing our experience and a few photos so no one else has to go through it.

The staff ladies were easily the best part of our New Year's Eve stay, which we chose for convenience to the start of the trail. When the AC didn’t work, the refrigerator wasn’t cooling, and our room was unclean, the front desk lady tried to accommodate us and offered another room to inspect first. That room had better-working AC, but still wasn’t very clean. The rooms show a lot of wear, and I’m not sure when this hotel was updated. It needs better maintenance: things weren’t clean, the beds were awful, the tubs wouldn’t drain, and the AC wasn’t very cold. Breakfast wasn’t bad, and the ladies working there were upbeat and friendly. As I said, the ladies were the best part.
