Vanguard Motel

The staff were nice and the service was great. I accidentally locked my key in the room, and they jumped right in to help. The room was clean and the bed comfortable, with a microwave, fridge, and TV, everything you need in an old motel. It’s close to food and stores for small items, and only 26 minutes from the Texas Renaissance Festival.

The room was clean, and I loved that there was no carpet. Great water pressure, AC, and bed. Charlie at the front desk was super nice!

The room was miserable for the three days we stayed at Vanguard Motel. The floor didn’t look dirty, but walking out of the shower without slippers left the soles of our feet black and filthy. The bedding looked like it came from the 1940s and made the room feel creepy. The layout was weird too, with the sink and vanity mirror outside the bathroom, making that area part of the bedroom. Noise was constant. You could hear trains and vehicles all day and night, and the AC was loud as well. We were in Texas on vacation during the College Football Playoffs, when lots of fans were traveling to Bryan / College Station, Texas. Most nearby hotels were full. A few had rooms, but were charging $450 or more a night, which was insane, so we felt we had no choice but to book here.

Nice, clean, comfortable rooms and very friendly people, especially Charlie. I’ve stayed here for many years while my family attends the texas renaissance festival. The price is reasonable, not as high as other hotels in Navosta.
