Safari Motel

I’ve stayed in plenty of small hotels and had good experiences, but this one was awful. The room smelled terrible and was dirty enough that I didn't feel comfortable showering. It seemed like they only cleaned the surface, and the place needs a serious deep clean. Everything looked worn out. There’s no kitchen, just an old microwave and an office refrigerator. Only one outlet in the room worked, none in the bathroom, and the wiring looked questionable. The curtains didn’t fit the window, paint was chipped, and the last paint job left splatters on everything. I’d guess little has changed since the 60s. Don’t stay here just because it’s cheap. I’d rather sleep in my car.

For someone traveling on a tight budget, I’m grateful this family offers affordable rooms. They were super friendly, and I felt safe. Being able to park right outside the room and walk straight in is a big plus, and it’s something we always look for. I’d choose a family-run budget motel like this over a big square building where you park in a lot, haul your things to an elevator, go up floors, and hear people all around you. It’s easy to complain instead of give credit. Thanks for having us, and best wishes as you keep upgrading the motel.

Dave at the front office was kind and understanding, and they handled my requests politely. This is an old place, and it looks like they’re upgrading it little by little, which takes time. I suspect it may be cleaner than some fancier places even if it doesn’t look that way. The beds are a bit hard, so I hope they replace them soon. Otherwise, it seems like a great place.

For what it costs, it was pretty good. The place is dated, though it seems they’re working on fixing it up. The man at the desk, who I think is the owner, was really nice and helpful.
