Candlewood Suites New Braunfels by IHG

We came for my son’s baby shower and had our dog with us, so after waking up to roaches at the Microtel in NB, I called Candlewood to ask about checking in early. Tasha at the front desk was incredibly sweet and said she’d have a room ready by noon. Check-in was easy, and she kept checking on us when we came downstairs all weekend. The staff was amazing, and our room was clean, spacious, and pet friendly. We stayed an extra night because of the weather. This will be our place when we’re in NB from now on. Couldn’t have asked for a better stay.

Ni’Ce was easily the best part of our five-day stay. She was kind, cheerful, professional, and kept making things more comfortable, including helping us solve problems. Our first room had dirty sheets and no working heat, but she quickly moved us and helped with the move. The second room was spacious and clean. Staff had no say over the missing amenities, though the lack of a restaurant or continental breakfast made things less comfortable. There were only a few assorted items in the grab-and-go cove, so we had to get meals elsewhere by delivery, eating out, or grocery shopping. The neighbors in the hall kept slamming their door late into the night, which was irritating. Room only came to over $500, including the applicable “discounts.” Staff had seemed accommodating on the phone when I explained I was coming for a family funeral.

The staff were super nice, and I liked the clean apartment feel and the location. The vending area was nice, but I couldn’t find breakfast. I’d stay again, though I’d do some grocery shopping first. Those heavy paintings barely sit on their mounts and should be removed.

I was sick and needed somewhere to stay so I wouldn’t get my family sick, and checked in on Christmas Day in 2025. I don’t know who was at the desk, but she was so friendly and seemed genuinely glad to be working that day. Her warm, positive welcome kind of made my day. I really appreciated it.
