OT 3515b Texas Yurt Haus Buffalo

We stayed two days and just left today. The heat from 1 to 4:30 got pretty intense, but it didn't make us miserable. Having no TV meant we had lots of time to talk, and we stayed up to watch the sunrise. Our relationship actually benefited from the stay, so we have nothing negative to say. Thanks for everything!

The bed was comfortable and the room was clean enough, but it didn't feel romantic or worth the price. There was a faint plastic smell, unlike the other yurts we've stayed in. The train horns kept sounding nearby, making it really hard to sleep or relax. Earbuds were offered, but that kind of defeats the point of staying here. And with the yurt so close to town, the skylight just showed city lights.

Having the whole property to ourselves was great, and deer came right up to our yurt each morning and evening. The train was extremely loud when it passed, though we both sleep heavily and only woke up once or twice. The other frustration was the washcloths. We had four towels and two washcloths for our two-night stay. My wife called for two more and was first told we should have four washcloths, then told that two was all we got. We didn't want to reuse a cloth we'd used to wash our butts, so I bought a pack at the nearest dollar store. Not a disaster, but still annoying. We stayed the last weekend of 2024.

Watching a thunderstorm through the clear dome at the top of our yurt was the highlight. We lay in bed listening to the rain and watching lightning cross the moving sky. It was like having a natural noise machine, and such a cool experience. Texas Yurt Haus felt peaceful and fit beautifully into the woods. Our yurt was clean, comfortable, welcoming, and had new amenities that all worked well. The host was responsive and helpful. We felt tucked away from noise, yet Gruene Hall and the places we needed to go were only a five-minute drive away. I'd happily come back with friends. If you want some quiet and a different kind of stay, I recommend it.
