River Run Condo RRC A301

The only reason our six-person group didn’t ask for a refund and go elsewhere was that we’d already paid for tubing at a rental place within walking distance. Two people in our party chose a motel instead after seeing Unit 201A. I’ve stayed at various River Run condos over the past 30 years, and this was by far my worst experience. I’ll never stay there again. The unit was disgusting and terribly outdated, with nothing apparently updated in its 30-plus years. The river view was why we picked it, but old, poorly conditioned windows fogged up with condensation in the morning. In the bedrooms, we found strange wall stains, one sad desk lamp with a stained shade, and a stiff mattress that squeaked with every move. The bathrooms were awful too. We covered the filthy floors with towels so our bare feet wouldn’t touch them. There was a wad of hair from previous guests behind the bathroom trash can, the tubs were discolored, and the shower heads were low enough for me to hit my head even though I’m only 5'6". The unit sleeps eight but only had six towels. When we asked for two more, the woman in the office gave me one bath towel and two hand towels, saying that was all she had. Neither of the two sleeper sofas had sheets. The extra blankets we used instead smelled musty, as if they hadn’t been cleaned recently. The young woman in the office seemed disoriented. She struggled to keep her eyes open, slurred her speech, and kept rubbing her eyes and sniffling. After we checked in, she apologized with a sheepish look, as if she knew she wasn’t fit to serve customers. She seemed put out when we asked for towels and sheets, and the office staff weren’t eager to help in other interactions. We’d love to talk to the property manager, but emails to the property go through that same young woman, who was part of the problem.

Sandy was incredibly helpful when we spoke with her several times through the office hotline. She’s the reason we gave four stars instead of three. Give that woman a raise. We enjoyed the stay, despite the many issues.

Sandy was a real plus to work with. She was always upbeat and quick to answer my questions. Our condo, 318C, was beautifully decorated and had a fireplace, and the double balcony gave us extra living space to relax. River Run is beautiful, with the pool and hot tub right by the river. We love it here. The condo sits right on the river and is within walking distance of Downtown.

We keep coming back to River Run every year, and each visit we try a different condo. The place is consistently clean and private, with friendly security that still makes you feel safe. It has a fun, lively atmosphere that works for families. This year we couldn't use the river because my youngest had broken his arm, though my oldest got to enjoy it from our place. Bring your own pool towels, toys, and yard games. Good job!
