My daughter had to take medication because the itching was so bad, and she went to her cheer competition with bites all over her face. She was embarrassed in front of her friends. We stayed in room 123 for one night while in town for the competition. In the morning she had blotches on her face and back, and my older daughter spotted bed bugs. I reported it at the front desk. The man there was nice and offered us a suite for the next night, but I turned it down because we weren't staying another night. There didn't seem to be any urgency about the bed bug problem. I've been asking for a refund. I called several times and was told the manager would be in later, then that he wouldn't be back until the following Wednesday. That day came and went, and now I'm told he's on vacation until the middle of February. They say only the manager, TJ, can issue the refund, and that he would contact me by email or phone, but he hasn't. It's been almost two weeks. I also called Best Western headquarters. As of 2.9.2026, I've still been trying to reach the manager, and nobody seems to care or show compassion.

I mostly wanted some quiet time away from my two young kids, and this was a peaceful, affordable spot for a one night solo stay. The area felt safe and nice, with lots of restaurants nearby. Parking was plentiful, check-in and checkout were easy, and the wifi worked great. Staff were polite, the room was clean, the bed comfortable, and breakfast and coffee were delicious. The hot tub was out of service, which was a letdown since I’d hoped to soak. You can hear people in the halls, including kids running around, so the rooms aren't very soundproof. Still, it’s a budget friendly hotel.

The front desk representative brushed me off when I reported a red Volkswagen Beetle racing through the parking lot in the slick snow, nearly hitting my car and two others. My family and I are here overnight because the snowstorm stranded us in Bear, DE. The car woke us twice, the second time at 11:45 p.m. I went down with my video camera and saw three kids in the car, with a parent who looked like a crackhead. Since the hotel has cameras and staff didn't take this seriously, I had to call the police. Why allow this dangerous driving to keep happening and disturb guests? I shouldn't have to worry about irresponsible parents letting their delinquent children drive around or crash into guests' cars, or be stuck paying for extra nights because of it. A minor driving a motor vehicle is illegal in every state, and I hope the parents are arrested. I've never dealt with anything like this at a hotel. I'm supposed to be resting while helping the plow crews clear the roads, but I've been woken up twice.

The pool was so cold that my daughter's lips turned blue, and even sitting in the pool room I had to bundle up. My kids and I came to enjoy the hotel and swim, not freeze. I'm very disappointed, and so are they. I usually stay at Hampton INN, but wanted to try somewhere else. First and last time here. Lesson learned, I won't make that mistake again.
