What makes a hotel good depends on what matters to the person staying there. For me in NOLA, it needs to be a small independent place, have real New Orleans character rather than look like a slick generic building, and be in the Quarter or Garden District, away from Canal and the Warehouse District. French Market Inn checks all those boxes. Its brick courtyard, French doors, stairs, balconies, and hallways make it clear you're in a historic French Quarter building. There's parking across the street, and someone can help with your luggage. The front desk staff are welcoming and friendly. Café Dumonde is a block or two away across the street, and Tujacques famous restaurant is one block down on the same side. The location gives you the Quarter's charm without Bourbon Street's craziness. If you want a huge chain hotel with a lobby bar selling overpriced drinks and kids running around, FMI isn't for you. If you want authentic French Quarter style and charm, French Market Inn is perfect.

The courtyard was beautiful, and the pool area made me wish we'd brought our swimsuits. Our room was comfortable and nice, and the location was probably the best part: we could walk to lots of restaurants and attractions. We enjoyed our stay at French Market Inn overall and would return on another New Orleans trip. The only snag was the air conditioning at first. We turned the temperature down before going out, but the room still hadn't cooled off when we came back. Staff sent someone to look at it, though it took longer than I expected before we were moved to another room.

We come here every year for Mardi Gras, and the location is great for getting around on foot. The front desk staff are always helpful and accommodating. My wife is pickier than I am about rooms, and we've had a few minor issues, nothing major. They offered to move us when a more spacious two-bedroom with a balcony became available. Room 247 was just what we wanted, and my wife loved it. The problem this time was that the hotel recorded our parking information incorrectly, and our car got booted. We had to change our plans, and it took several hours after the hotel sent in the corrected details for the boot to be removed. Still, it was a very nice trip, and we'd happily stay again.

I spent seven days at The French Market Inn and would gladly return. The room was clean and comfortable, with New Orleans character, and the staff were consistently friendly, professional, and helpful. Even though it's right in the heart of the French Quarter, the inn stayed peaceful and quiet when I wanted to unwind. French Market, Jackson Square, nearby restaurants, and music are all right outside, which made this an ideal base for exploring the city. I'd highly recommend it to anyone visiting New Orleans.

The courtyards filled with greenery create a peaceful feel, and the dipping pool is a lovely spot to cool off after exploring. The inn is a maze of understated elegance, with rooms that pair modern amenities with exposed brick and architectural details. And those pillows were cloud-like, lol. The service stood out most. Elysia at the front desk was warm and welcoming, while Kevin, the concierge and bellman, shared useful local tips for attractions and meals. This historic French Quarter hotel has charm, Southern hospitality, and thoughtful details, and it's conveniently located for everything the city offers. I had a delightful stay and highly recommend it. Our future Hilton stays in NOLA now seem unlikely. Run, don't walk to the French Market Inn, you can relax once you get there.
