Hampton Inn & Suites New Orleans Convention Center

We booked the nearby slot at Fulton Garage ahead of time since there’s no self-parking. The downtown location was convenient, and breakfast was free as usual at Hampton. We had the one-bedroom suite with two queen beds, arrived around 10 pm from Houston, and checked out at 1 pm as a diamond member. A brief stay, and I was happy with it.

The rooms were spacious, spotless, and quiet, and the hotel’s character made the stay memorable. It’s a striking old warehouse conversion with high ceilings and lots of historic details. For anyone going to an event at the Convention Center, the location is hard to beat, right across the street. We also walked to the WWII Museum and local restaurants like Cochon. Five stars for the atmosphere and convenience.

The lobby and pool area are quaint, and the leadership team clearly stays involved in the guest experience. I received several texts during and after my stay, and when I mentioned one minor issue, they responded right away. The Convention Center is directly across the street, with many attractions within walking distance. Bourbon St. is about a 1.5-mile walk.

The laundry was very good, and the gym was decent for keeping up with workouts while traveling. Rooms were fine, a reasonable size, and had what we needed. Reception service was just so-so, staff met the basics but weren’t especially good or bad. Breakfast was chaotic with huge crowds for the first two days, then pleasant on our last morning. The food was okay, the kids liked the waffles, but that line was the longest. The location worked well for the convention centre, though it’s a bit of a walk to the French Quarter. The waterfront route was nice, but we took an Uber back rather than walk both ways. Valet seemed pricey and took a while, though we didn’t use it. Overall, a decent hotel.
