La Belle Esplanade gave me a chance to reconnect with the New Orleans I thought had been forgotten. My hometown is about so much more than partying. It has deep history, food, and culture, though parts of the city have adapted to survive by giving people what the world wants, which is to party and forget most of what they came for. True locals don’t recognize what the city has become. This beautiful place surrounds you with the unique details that make the city special. Grab a book from the well-stocked library and read outside, or check the room binder for nearby pastry, coffee, and great food spots. You can also sit across the street and read about the monument to Charles Gayarré. The owners make you feel comfortable, welcomed, and special. I can’t wait to return.

I didn’t stay at the hotel, so I can’t speak to the accommodations. On a very quiet morning, I was quickly taking a photo of my 3-month-old baby on the front veranda when a male staff member or resident wearing a fedora came out to ask what was going on. I asked if it was okay to be there. He looked visibly annoyed and said, “oh mannnn!!” in a way that felt quite rude and unwelcoming. It was super awkward. I understand the veranda may be for guests, and I left right away, but I wish he’d handled it more politely and warmly.

The owners were friendly and helpful, and the historical architecture was colorful and beautiful. We also appreciated the free Wi-Fi and safe street parking. It was close to both tourist and local amenities. Thanks for a happy stay. We’ll absolutely visit New Orleans again.

We had a fantastic two-night stay in room Clio. Such a unique hotel, with all those colors, the indoor decor, and a very cute balcony. The neighborhood was quiet, and the owners were always around.

Our short time in New Orleans was so much better thanks to Matthew and Melanie, who welcomed us warmly and shared tips on local restaurants and finding the most exciting parades. We absolutely loved them. Their quirky, fun personalities were a highlight of our trip, and their guidance helped us make the most of our visit and create unforgettable memories. The building was adorable, cozy, and inviting, with the feel of a New Orleans home. La Belle Esplanade had just the warmth and charm we wanted from a bed and breakfast. We couldn’t have asked for a better experience, and can’t wait to come back. Thanks for everything. -Griffin and Hayley
