We’ve stayed at Le Richelieu several times and love it. The rooms have been updated since our first visit in 2010, and they’re spacious and modern. The front desk staff are always helpful and friendly. It’s on what we think of as the quiet side of the French Quarter, with great restaurants and bars nearby and the street market only a few blocks away. Frenchman street is close too, with smaller jazz clubs for the evening. We walk everywhere we want to go. After a night on Bourbon street, the trip back can feel long depending on where you are, but a $20 pedicab ride will get you back easily. There’s a small bar open from 3pm to 11pm. They only serve coffee to guests in the morning, but there are two very good breakfast spots nearby.
We had a wonderful four-night stay, Thursday through Monday. Our room was ready an hour before official check-in, so they let us in early, and the front desk gentleman got us settled quickly. The room was clean and tidy, with two small balconies, each furnished with a table and two chairs. From our corner room we could see the downtown skyline. It stayed surprisingly quiet each night, both from outside and from other guests. Housekeeping kept us well supplied with towels and coffee. We could walk to the Market District, French Quarter, Jackson Square, streetcar junctures, Frenchman Street, and the Jazz Museum. We took just one Uber, to and from Chickie Wah Wah. We didn’t use the bar or pool, so can’t comment on those. The one hassle was arriving by car. There’s nowhere to park during check-in, and we circled the block several times before figuring that out. A solo driver might have a hard time, so knowing ahead could help. Even so, the hotel exceeded our expectations and we’d gladly stay again.
Absolutely loved this little boutique hotel. The rooms were clean, comfortable, and roomy, and Rebecca at the front desk was one of the sweetest people I’ve met. She was so helpful with suggestions for places to go. The location was perfect too, with restaurants nearby, a flea market around the corner, and an easy walk to Bourbon street. I’d absolutely come back.
We had a great stay. The room was clean and lovely, and the bed and pillows were extremely comfortable. The staff were nice, and we liked using the digital door codes. The location is handy for things to do in the French Quarter and the parade routes. Housekeeping cleaned every room daily and did a very good job, which you don’t find everywhere. The only thing I’d improve at Le Richelieu is the shampoo, body wash, and conditioner. They’re very low quality and don’t lather, so definitely bring your own. Everything else was great, and we’d stay again for sure.
Our balcony was a real treat. We spent quiet early mornings and late nights watching people from the privacy of our room. The hotel’s street is residential and calmer than Bourbon and similar areas, while still being an easy walk to lots of different parts of the city. The location was perfect. The staff were super friendly, our room was beautiful, and the pool area and lobby are both pretty. I also loved the long hallways. We’ll be back and won’t hesitate to recommend it to friends.
