Catahoula Hotel New Orleans

We had everything we needed, felt very safe, and everyone was so nice. The hotel was beautiful, including the BYOB rooftop, and there was plenty of nearby parking at good prices. My experience was perfect. I honestly don’t know why the reviews here are mixed.

I was in town for Barrels on the Bayou Beerfest and the French Quarter Jazz Fest, and this location made getting around easy. Lots of places were within walking distance. I made good use of the open air sitting area outside the rooms, and the attendant was friendly and explained everything clearly. I’d stay here again next time I’m in town.

This was my second stay, and it always feels special here. I can’t think of another hotel that matches my vibe so well or feels as much like home, while still being walking distance to all the French Quarter spots. I came for my birthday in March with a few close friends. On our rainy last Sunday, the master bedroom was perfect, and we could look out at the street from the balcony. Don’t come expecting luxury. It’s bohemian, chill, and classy.

Heather was a very sweet, pleasant host, and management was accommodating throughout our trip. They even upgraded us to the best standard room. The building has some nice knickknacks, and we got a good deal, but the room was still disappointing. It was old and poorly ventilated, with locked windows, so we often left the door open to get fresh air. The toilet seat barely stayed in place, and the floor and shower reminded me of a prison cell. The renovation felt poorly done. It’s fine if you just need somewhere to sleep, but I can’t say the room was worth it.
