We lasted five hours, mostly sleeping, then left for somewhere else even though we'd paid for the night. We only booked because they let us check in at 11 a.m. instead of 3 p.m. Flight problems and a mix-up at the Hyatt regency had kept us up for 26 hours, and we just needed to sleep. I woke from my nap to find a roach on the nightstand. They said we could have a room with air conditioning or heat, but apparently not both. The first room was very hot, and the HVAC controls were broken so we couldn't change the temperature or fan speed. We switched to an AC room and asked for another blanket. It got too cold, but the controls still wouldn't work, so I tripped the circuit breaker to shut the unit off. The extra blanket was remarkably thin. The bed was extremely firm, the linens scratchy, and the towels felt like sandpaper. The shower was filthy and the water only lukewarm. Light came through the gaps at the sides and bottom of the door. There wasn't even a TV, and the old mini fridge made alarming noises every time its compressor started. This motel is badly in need of renovation.

We knew we were booking a $60-a-night room, but I still wanted to be warm. The high during our trip was 34 degrees, and the room door had a half-inch gap around the frame that let in a cold draft and sunlight. It felt like glorified camping. Take my advice and skip this place unless it's a last resort. At least we didn't find bedbugs. We booked two nights over New Year's four weeks ahead. Everything else was booked except for $400-a-night rooms on Bourbon St, which was too expensive for me. When we arrived, we were told none of the rooms had heat because new units were being installed and the completed rooms were already occupied. We asked for extra towels, since ours were about the size of hand towels, and blankets because there was no heat. The towels came right away, but the promised blankets from “maintenance” never did. After a long night, we got back late New Year's Eve or early New Year's Day and discovered there was no hot water. The desk attendant seemed young and couldn't offer much compensation. I understand getting what you pay for, but this was rough.

DO NOT STAY HERE. After waiting three hours for our room, we were told it would be finished last, so we switched to another one. The sheets and blankets in that supposedly non-smoking room had cigarette burns. After my boyfriend and I drove 14 hours to get there, we wanted a shower and a nap, but the hot water didn't work. We were told the refund would take two days, and the manager wouldn't let us speak to the owner. We were on a budget and had spent our money on this room. I would give it zero stars if I could.

I usually stay at Motel 6 when I travel and the hotels are always clean, but this was the worst place I've stayed. The cleaning lady was nice, while the rest of the staff were rude. Our room was dirty, the beds felt like military cots, and there was no TV or fridge. I didn't see roaches in the room, but there were some in the hallways, so we put a towel by the door to keep them out. There were a lot of sketchy people around at night, and we generally didn't feel safe. New Orleans has cheap rooms that are actually clean, so I'll stay somewhere else next time.

In every other way, the motel was about average. But I left my $400 pair of eyeglasses in the room, in a specific spot, and the staff didn't turn them in. I know I left them there, so either nobody looked or they were snatched. There's no excuse for not caring about customers' belongings. People must leave valuables behind all the time, and it's inexcusable that they never turned up.
