Roami at The Mandeville

At 11:00pm, two men we hadn't invited entered our room using the code supplied for me and my two other female guests. We ran out of the property. Roami never answered any of our many calls and emails about it. Airbnb reimbursed the hotel we had to find at midnight, but Roami still hasn't refunded the townhouse we left because of safety concerns. After its review, Airbnb said this didn't breach its safety policy, so no refund would be coming. Apparently intruders entering your room aren't considered a safety issue under Airbnb's policy, and guest safety isn't a priority. The accommodation wasn't advertised as it really was. I guessed it was a townhouse, but the tiny metal spiral staircase wasn't shown. When we arrived, it reeked of cigarette and cigar smoke. A window was open and there was a cigar stuck in the sill. Worst place ever.

We were really disappointed. There was black mold in our unit, water damage, and a couch so filthy we wouldn't sit on it. Heavy rain came through while we were there, and water got into the unit. The photos show the wet floor. Roami offered only a 20% discount and a refund of the cleaning fee. I strongly felt the whole amount we paid should have been refunded. Beware.

For the price and location, I really enjoyed the studio, and it felt fairly safe. It was much larger than I expected, with a full kitchen, bathroom, washer, and dryer. There were a few issues, though. Parking is street-only, which is pretty normal in New Orleans. The pool was out of service, even though I booked in February and thought it would be maintained by the end of May. The shower leaked onto the floor, and I put in a maintenance request. Hopefully it's repaired. Like other reviews said, there's little insulation from outside, so neighbors may be loud. The AC wasn't cooling as much as we expected in 90 degree weather. We weren't sweating, but it wasn't very cool either.

We used to visit New Orleans often, and this had been one of my favorite places to stay. That changed completely when we returned in August of 2025. The pool was in disrepair despite being advertised as working. Flies covered both the front and back doors, and maggots were all over the area outside our unit and along the lobby hallway to the front of the building. We alerted Roami to the health hazard many hours ago, but they still haven't fixed it.
