St. Charles Inn

We loved how easy it was to get around from here. The hotel sits right on the St. Charles streetcar line, so getting to either the French Quarter or the University area was simple, and there are plenty of restaurants and shops within walking distance in the Garden District. The place was clean and comfortable, with a nice local feel. Complimentary breakfast was a bonus. A perfect New Orleans base.

The room was clean, and the streetcar stop right outside made the location hard to beat. Geraldine B and I had a wonderful four-night stay. Latrice, Kim, Al, and Lynette were courteous and professional throughout, and really added to our trip. We'll be back.

Antonette at the front desk was especially helpful. We arrived before check-in, and she quickly found us a room that was ready. She also mentioned that the Mardi Gras parade goes right past the hotel. The inn is well kept, housekeeping has done a nice job, and we didn't hear outside noise. Our room had a mini-fridge and microwave, with paid parking available. It's a short walk to the Saint Charles streetcar stop, and the trolley is convenient for getting around at $3 a day. The ride to the heart of the city takes about 15 minutes. There are lots of eateries close by, too. The place is clean and quiet, the hot breakfast is nice, and the staff were pleasant. A GREAT place to stay in New Orleans. Highly recommend Hampton Inn – New Orleans – St. Charles Ave./Garden District.

My brightly colored silk slip (brand) pillowcase went missing during my stay. It had to be unzipped from the pillow, so it wasn't something that could easily be confused with the other linens. I wouldn't trust my belongings in a room here, and I wouldn't count on anything left behind being returned. The management staff I spoke with were nice enough, but gave no real explanation or accountability. The location was okay, and the rooms were more run down than I like. Either way, I wouldn't stay here again.
