Arrowhead Inn

After a 10-hour drive, we arrived to find a run-down place that looked nothing like the pictures, with a confusing entrance and a keypad lock. A man came out after we knocked and told us the woman had called to cancel because the guest in our room decided to stay. She hadn’t taken my phone number, so he guessed she’d called the wrong one. He offered us a room by having one of his workers sleep in his own space, but I wasn’t about to stay in someone’s space in that condition. We had to drive another 45 minutes to find a hotel. When I booked, a flustered man passed the phone to a girl who said she wasn’t trained to take my information. She got my name and confirmed the date, but I didn’t feel comfortable with that.

That homey feel is what made this place such a treat on our trip across the states. We usually stay in little motels, and this was one of the best we’ve found. The woman at the desk was friendly and helpful, the room was comfy, and the water pressure was great. They also leave snacks out for guests, a lovely touch. If you’re after something new and flashy, this probably isn’t your place. For a good night’s sleep with a bit of a home feel, it is.

The woman running the place that night gave us a spare room for free when car trouble left us stranded on a trip. We’d been turned away by two other places, and barely made it to the nearest town. Without her help, we would’ve had to sleep in the car and might have nearly frozen. I can’t say how grateful we are that we found her. It’s rare to meet people so kind. Thank you so, so much.

The manager was a sweetheart and very helpful, and I’d have no problem sleeping here again. We found this little place just off the highway for an overnight stop. The room smelled fresh and clean as soon as we walked in, and it was clean too. The A/C worked great, and there was a nice TV.
