Coastal Waters Inn

We left and paid for another hotel because the room was so disgusting. It cost $300 a night, and the whole building looked run down and rusty. The room smelled like raw sewage when we first walked in. Nothing seemed clean: the sheets and pillows had stains that looked like pee, poop, and blood, and there was filth and staining everywhere. Some light switches and drawers were broken.

Once we got into the unit, the smell of water damage and filth was everywhere, and every inch looked dirty or in disrepair. The entry itself was a warning: the lobby odor was so foul it nearly knocked us over, and corrosion on the door keypad made getting inside a struggle. The listing was false, the price was far too high, and honestly, the place should be condemned. I’m trying to get reimbursed because the stay was so bad and presented several health hazards. The kitchen was grimy, the wall by the stove was burned, and stove knobs were missing, leaving metal posts. There were barely any dishes or utensils, and the ones there were dirty. The counters and cabinets were cracked, and the appliances badly needed replacing. Cockroaches and silverfish were in every room, and the floors were filthy. The toilet brush was nasty, soaked with urine, and smelled awful. There was no bedding for the pullout couch. The bathroom had hair and dirt in the shower and on the floor, plus just two worn, dirty-looking towels. There was mold around the toilet base and shower, and the shower head was leaky and held together with a zip tie. An old toothbrush covered in dust and cobwebs was lodged between the toilet and shower, so who knows how long it had been there. The bedroom had no air conditioning, so we had to leave the door open, which meant no privacy and a warm room. No one was available to handle problems or complaints; we had to text and wait. We messaged right after checking in and didn’t hear back until the next morning. They offered another unit, but it was just as bad and the smell was unbearable. We couldn’t stay the two nights we’d booked, and no one is responding to our refund requests. At this point, we’ll pursue legal action. The owner needs to be held accountable for false advertising and putting unsuspecting travelers’ health at risk.

It’s right on the beach, but the rooms only look clean at first. Then you notice dead bugs in the cabinets and roaches and other bugs crawling across the bedroom floor. I knew I wouldn’t be able to sleep, so I left. I was told I might be able to get another room the next day. I don’t recommend staying here.

The room was already dirty when we arrived, the air conditioning didn’t work, and it was over 100 degrees inside. The hotel wouldn’t repair it or move us. Around 8 pm they brought a portable unit, but put its exhaust hose under the bed, so it blew hot air back into the room and made things worse. Then they stopped answering my texts, which was the only way to reach them. There was no parking on site, a large hole in one room’s door, mold in both bathrooms, showers that looked like they hadn’t been cleaned, and dirty floors. Other guests told us they’d had similar problems. A terrible experience.
