Nocturne Motel

Nocturne is our regular place whenever we’re in NSB. It’s a relaxed, pleasant spot. The building is older, but the owners keep it neat, clean, and in great condition. Rick, who lives on site, is friendly and just a great person.

This place was disgusting. The room reeked of cigarettes, even though the rooms are marked no smoking. It was obvious people had been chain-smoking there. The shower and bathroom felt sticky, and my shoes stuck to the floor as I walked around. I woke up twice because the smell was so overpowering, and even took the next day’s clothes back to the car so they wouldn’t stink. It was raining when I arrived, and the whole parking lot was flooded with over an inch and a half of water. If I need to stay in the area again, I’ll sleep in my car instead.

I’ve been to New Smyrna many times from Orlando, but this was my first stay at this motel. For the price, it was a really pleasant surprise compared with other places in the same range. We were in town for a wedding and got to check in a little early, which was great. The room was very clean, had no bad odor, and the sheets were fresh. The bedding all looked fairly new. I’ll come back.

From the outside it has a vintage look, but inside the rooms were clean and seemed recently updated. The beds were very comfortable, and the staff were pleasant and helpful, especially Rick. If he recommends somewhere to eat, you can trust it’ll be good. We’d stay here again.
