Avalon Hotel

The family suite had plenty of room and a great big bathroom, and the beds were comfortable. The room, service, and location were all good, and the gym was adequate. Breakfast was a letdown, though. There weren’t many food choices, the fruit and coffee were mediocre, and they had only one kind of milk. It was also hard to find a clean bowl. The elevators were painfully slow.

The hotel’s location made getting around so easy, with the Empire State Building and subway stations very close by. At night, the Korean restaurants nearby fill the air with a delicious, inviting smell. Our room and bathroom were dated, but very clean and worked perfectly well. Since it was a chilly winter stay, we were glad to have free hot cocoa, tea, and coffee. The employees were friendly and greeted us every time we came through the lobby. Magnificent all around, I’d give it 11 out of 10.

Once we were moved upstairs, our stay improved a lot. A manager listened to us and kindly found us a room on the 12th floor with a great street view, two king beds, a living area, and a bathroom three times the size of the first one. We had asked to move because the third-floor room was close to the street and could get noisy. The sofa bed also had issues, and cooking smells from the restaurant next door came straight into the room. The hotel is very central, just two minutes from the Empire State Building and close to the metro and good restaurants. Everyone was helpful and did their best to make our holiday a good one. We didn’t pay for breakfast, though I think the rate included two breakfasts and there were three of us.

The hotel’s location made it easy to explore the surrounding area on foot or by cab, which was a big help during our trip. From the moment we checked in, the service felt world-class. Check-in was quick and smooth, and they stored our luggage early so we could head out and see NYC. The room was clean, roomy, and nicely decorated. When we called for assistance, the attendant was always helpful and gave excellent service. We’d happily stay at the Avalon again and recommend it to anyone visiting NYC. Thanks for the hospitality.
