Fairfield Inn & Suites New York Manhattan/Times Square South

We got stranded at the hotel during the recent blizzard and had plenty of problems, but the staff were amazing throughout. Mustafa was especially helpful, courteous, and professional. I liked that he wasn’t too chatty, and he managed to sort out every issue we had. Everyone was nice and helpful, and the location was very convenient. Thank you, Mustafa, and thanks to the whole staff for all your hard work.

There are lots of good food options close by, and although the neighborhood is busy, our street was quiet. It’s also very convenient for Penn Station. The room was small but worked fine and was reasonably quiet. The hotel itself is pretty standard, with no major drawbacks I can think of. Breakfast could use some improvement. We had eggs, breakfast meat, and potatoes on some days, but the eggs were kind of tasteless. The only fruit was bananas and oranges. Still, it’s a good choice if you’re mainly in town to explore the city.

The front desk staff were friendly, but I wouldn’t stay here again. I didn’t get a single good night’s sleep during my two days there. I could hear everything outside the room: doors slamming whenever guests left or housekeeping came through, and guests shouting in the halls early in the morning. The hotel can’t control its guests, but the noise carried straight into our room. The heating and AC system was also unnecessarily loud, turning on periodically at night. It was extremely cold in NY, so we had no choice but to keep it running. There was also a serious problem with checkout. I’d extended my stay until 3 pm, but a little before 2, housekeeping knocked. I told them I was still in the room, yet the housekeeper unlocked the door with a key while my wife and I were in bed. The extra lock kept the door from opening fully, and the privacy please tag was on it. She left without apologizing or saying a word. The hotel needs to fix whatever system tells housekeeping which rooms are occupied.

The staff were so nice and helpful, and after checkout the hotel kindly stored our luggage for free. Our room was clean and cozy, and surprisingly quiet despite being only a 10-minute walk from Times Square. There was a good variety of breakfast items, too. I had an amazing stay at the Fairfield hotel and would highly recommend it.
