The photos online didn't match what I found there. My room was dirty, with dust and trash, questionable stuff on the wall, and mold in the bathroom. The place smelled musty and like marijuana. The beds and pillows were horrible, and it didn't feel suitable for children. Even a guest checking out told me to wipe down all the surfaces. Guests were loud through the night, with music and what looked like “business” going on. At 6 a.m. I woke to guests arguing and a physical fight in the hallway. I called the front desk, but they couldn't control it. The staff seemed uncaring. I was there just one night, and if I'd booked longer, I would've had to cut my stay short. This was the worst hotel I've ever been in, literally a dump.

This has changed its name to Homless Shelter. It was originally the Brooklyn Broadway Hotel. My room smelled of cigarettes, was dirty and very loud, and the bedding had cigarette burns. For the price I paid, it was truly dreadful. I paid nearly $150 a night, but this should cost $30. One of the worst hotel experiences I've had, and I don't recommend it.

I booked three nights through priceline, May 6th through May 8th, with payment at the hotel, and was surprised by how this supposed four star place handled things. The neighborhood looked awful, with lots of homeless people and people who looked unclean. At check-in, the manager said I had to pay cash because of hotel policy, pointing to a small paper taped to his cubicle, then sending me to the lobby ATM. I withdrew $200 and paid him, including $140 for the room and $60 toward a deposit. He said the next day, May 7th, would be $150 and May 8th $140. I found a dirty ashtray in my room, though I hadn't realized I'd chosen a smoking room, and there was a hole in the bathroom wall. Otherwise the room was okay. That night the hallways smelled strongly of weed. At 11 a.m. the next day, the front desk called to say checkout time had arrived. I said I was booked for two more nights, but he said I hadn't paid for that day. I went back to the ATM, withdrew $160, and paid $150. We argued because I'd never known a hotel with such a high rating to accept cash. He said it was his hotel and I could leave if I didn't like it. I considered leaving, but had only one day left, so I walked away. After being out for the day, I came back to find no fresh towels and an unmade bed. This isn't what I'd expect from a four star hotel, maybe a motel. It's about 50 yards from one of the worst blocks in Brooklyn. Don't stay here with children if you expect a made bed or clean towels. I woke with a headache after smelling weed all night. I didn't stay the third night, got my $60 back, and left.

SM Rafsan made our stay enjoyable by going above and beyond, and he was extremely accommodating, letting us check in early. The rooms were clean and very comfortable. I had a wonderful experience at the Brooklyn Broadway hotel and would recommend it to anyone visiting Bed-Stuy. I'd definitely send a friend there. Thank you!

The rooms are clean, and the noise has eased. Staff are very helpful, and signs are posted to help keep customers and employees safe and healthy.
