The room would’ve been pretty decent if the mattress weren’t so awful. I’m not talking about whether someone likes a firm bed, these felt worse than garbage. Forget sleeping, I couldn’t even relax on them. The bathroom was a good size, and the water pressure was decent to good, though I was there when it wasn’t very busy. The TV only had cable, no YouTube or apps. I think you might be able to connect your own HDMI.
We had a relaxing boutique feel here, with roomy, clean, modern rooms, comfortable beds, a big walk-in shower, Keurig coffee, a fridge, and some nice little touches. Front desk staff were friendly, check-in was quick, and housekeeping kept things spotless. The location was a great base for Brooklyn and the city: in the Park Slope area, an easy walk to Union St subway for the R train to Manhattan in about 20 minutes, and close to Barclays Center, Brooklyn Museum, restaurants, and shops. Free parking was a bonus too. Good value for Brooklyn, and I’d stay again. 4 stars.
The room was clean and had a lovely balcony with a great view, and the hotel’s location was great. The lobby staff were friendly and helpful. I also liked that cars stayed in the lot instead of being valet, so I could go down to mine whenever I needed. Check-in was at 4pm, but even at 4:15 the room was still being cleaned. There was no ice bucket or ice machine, and just one blanket besides the sheets.
The hotel had availability for the dates I wanted, but still refused to change my booking. I contacted them well ahead of time to move the dates, not cancel, and got a flat no with no attempt to suggest another option. All they offered were rigid policy replies, with no real explanation or empathy. It came across as if keeping the money mattered more than helping a guest. Travel plans change sometimes, and a professional hotel should be able to show some understanding. This one didn’t. If your plans shift even a little, I’d expect no support or customer service. Be careful booking here.
On the final night, I parked near the entrance and later found my car damaged. The front-of-house staff told me to email the hotel with photos while the car was still there. I did, several times, but two weeks later I still haven’t heard anything. The lack of follow-up or even acknowledgment about damage to my property is very concerning. Sleep was poor for other reasons too. The bed was shockingly uncomfortable, with deep dips and impressions in the worn mattress. Both mornings we were woken around 6am by noise from a U-Haul/storage company right outside the window, something guests should be told about because it made proper rest impossible. Check-in was a bad start. Staff seemed distracted and inattentive. They weren’t openly rude, but it didn’t feel welcoming or professional. Between the poor sleep, inattentive service, and silence after the car damage, I can’t recommend Hotel Bleu.
