Fairfield Inn & Suites New York Queens/Queensboro Bridge

I’ve booked this hotel for work more than once, and every stay has been bad. The rooms have a stale, damp smell, sticky surfaces, and cleanliness has steadily gotten worse. I’ve even found bugs and blood on the sheets. Housekeeping and management haven’t made any visible effort to address what feels like an ongoing pattern. I’d only consider it if every other place were full. Otherwise, stay somewhere else.

We spent the day coming and going, from about 3 p.m. until 8 a.m., and that was no trouble. The lobby is lovely, with a small cafeteria, and I liked the decorations. Our room was clean, with fresh sheets, a roomy bathroom, lots of mirrors, and a little couch that opened into a bed. The service was great too: after we left a pair of shoes behind, they’d already put them aside by the time we called. I really enjoyed staying here.

The staff were very nice, but the room and hotel were in awful shape. There was blood on the carpet and bugs crawling on the bed, and the AC was so loud we couldn’t sleep. We had to bump the door with our hip to get it fully shut. When we arrived, buckets were catching water, and men in military uniforms were guarding the property. It seemed to be housing migrants, which we hadn’t been told before our stay and found concerning given the unrest in the area. The neighborhood didn’t feel safe either.

We managed to see several sights during the hours before check-in and after checkout because the hotel held our bags for us. That was a big help on a short NYC visit. Breakfast was great, and the staff, especially Carlos at the front desk, were so helpful. The place was very clean and quiet. I could just barely hear the above-ground subway while awake, and it never disturbed my sleep. The beds and pillows were comfortable, too. I stayed with my husband and two tween girls, and we’d come back. Convenient location for the price.
