Holiday Inn Express & Suites Bronx - Zoo Area by IHG

The hotel was spotless and well cared for, with a great atmosphere. The staff were so friendly that I felt welcome as soon as I arrived. Great vibes, comfortable stay, and excellent service. I'd happily recommend it and hope to come back.

Our neighbors were bad the first night, but the staff kindly found us a better room. It was quiet there, so we could sleep easily. The rooms are small but clean, with comfortable beds and pillows. Breakfast had a limited selection, though what we tried was good. We stayed Sunday through Thursday and ate there most mornings. We were a little nervous about exploring the area at night, but there was a really good little deli just down the block that we went to often. For a budget-friendly hotel stay, it's a good option. The staff were helpful and friendly.

If I could give zero stars, I would. I stayed here for my birthday in October, and the service was awful. The room smelled funky, and long worms came up from the bowl when we flushed the toilet. The toilet paper holder was broken, so the paper kept falling on the floor. The thick Caucasian woman working the day shift at the front desk had an attitude, as if I were getting a free stay and had no right to complain while spending my money. Breakfast gave me diarrhea because it wasn't prepared properly. I've stayed at other IHG properties, and this was by far the worst. The second room they finally moved me to also had water coming from the bowl after flushing. The Wi-Fi wasn't working, so I couldn't use the TV, and they said it had been down for a while. Please don't waste your money here. It's not worth it.

I wish I could give this zero stars. Getting there close to 11 PM, I was told at the last minute that the hotel had no water. They should have let guests know well before they arrived. The front desk employee was rude and wouldn't help. When I asked for a manager's contact details, he refused and just kept offering to refund me. Being left without a place to stay that late was incredibly frustrating. Terrible communication and service.
