Holiday Inn Express & Suites Woodside LaGuardia Airport by IHG

We stayed one night before a morning flight out of LGA. Check-in was easy, and our IHG credit card got us a complimentary upgrade to a suite. The room was spotless, the bed was comfortable, and it was quiet. Breakfast had a good selection, including cinnamon rolls, and coffee was available around the clock. The airport shuttle was the one letdown. It runs every 30 minutes, but the 7:30 a.m. pickup didn't arrive until 7:49. The driver didn't apologize and seemed a little annoyed. We still made our flight, but allow for a delay if you're on a tight schedule. I'd stay here again for LGA.

Patrizia and Jessica made check-in a great start both times, since we had two reservations with different start dates. They were warm and helpful at the front desk. I didn't get the names of the housekeepers or houseperson, but they were friendly and quick to help, too. The hotel was impressively well kept: our room and the lobby were clean, and the public bathrooms were immaculate. Other front desk staff were helpful by phone when we asked for a late checkout, and they were able to make it work. One of my best stays with IHG.

The staff were kind and really helpful, even letting us get breakfast before check-in and tagging our bags for an early drop-off. Breakfast was just okay, but it got us by. Getting around was convenient: the subway is nearby, though the walk is uphill, the Q60 bus is a block away and takes OMNY, and the free Q70 bus is about a 10-minute walk away by the subway. Our room was cleaned only once during our four-night stay, on the third night, which was disappointing. The arrival shuttle took 30 minutes despite being quoted 10-15. The departure shuttle was even more frustrating: the desk told us to wait outside because it would be ready in a few minutes. After waiting in the cold, I went back inside and was told the driver had stepped away to the restroom. When he came out, he said the next shuttle would leave in half an hour. Also, the hotel's convenience store charges extremely high prices for snacks, around $4-$7 for things you can buy at Dollar Tree.

The breakfast was great, and the room felt really modern. The bathroom was much nicer than any I've had in the apartments around here. I was surprised by how nice the hotel looked among older buildings, and the secured underground parking was another welcome surprise at a reasonable price.
