I especially enjoyed the hotel clubhouse: they served a great breakfast, light lunch and dinner, plus snacks, drinks, and cocktails. The artwork around the lobby and the recreations in the rooms were another fun detail. We recognized Alex Katz from the Metropolitan Museum of Art, where we saw his work during our visit. It was cool to find the same artist represented at the hotel. My mom and I are native New Yorkers who’ve moved away, and last fall we came back for a wonderful weekend at the Langham. Our upgraded suite had floor-to-ceiling windows throughout the bedroom and a beautiful, spacious bathroom. Service and food were good, as was the location. We took Ubers everywhere, though walking or the subway would’ve been easy. I highly recommend it.

A small moment of kindness made the stay memorable. While my room was being cleaned, I stepped out to find somewhere to rest and went to the Club Lounge without realizing my room category didn’t include access. My key wouldn’t open the door, and I was about to leave when a staff member noticed and stopped to talk. After hearing what was going on, he opened the door with his card and invited me to sit down with coffee and a snack. The welcome and thoughtfulness meant more than the refreshments. The Junior Suite was spacious and cozy, and I’d happily stay at The Langham again. Its Fifth Avenue location also made getting around convenient, with Times Square, Bryant Park, Trump Tower, Central Park, and subway stations all within easy reach. From the doorman to the concierge, restaurant staff, and guest services desk, the hospitality was excellent.

Kayan (not sure if I spelled her name right) was so kind and helpful, a real asset to the Langham. The rooms are comfortable, the location on 5th Ave is great, and the restaurant is solid with gluten-free options. The concierge was great too and arranged a complimentary car to dinner one night. I’ve stayed here a few times, and it’s my go-to place in NYC.

We stayed at the Langham in November with our seven-month-old daughter. We didn’t need a taxi at all, and everything we wanted was close enough to walk to or reach by subway. That was especially handy with a pushchair. Our spacious room on the 15th floor was clean, and the sturdy wooden cot provided was much better than the travel cots some hotels supply. Our daughter slept peacefully in it. The service was what set the hotel apart. From the front desk and doorman to the concierge, everyone made things easy and comfortable. This review is late, but the service was so good that I wanted to write one the hotel deserves. We’ll definitely stay again next time we visit New York. Thank you to the Langham team!

Room service breakfast was excellent, with generous portions and particularly well-made omelets. We also appreciated the excellent location, the friendly staff, and the spacious room by NYC standards. It had a bathroom heater and a TV built into the mirror, and nightly turndown came with slippers and water. The hotel surprised my wife with champagne and dessert for her birthday, which was lovely. The positives outweighed the issues, and we enjoyed our stay, but I’m undecided about returning with our family this summer or trying another hotel in the same range. This trip was a test run, and there are plenty of good options in the city. A few details didn’t meet what I’d expect from a five-star hotel at this price. We arrived around 11:30am and left our bags, hoping for early check-in. They said they’d text when the room was ready, but we never got a message. We did get a slightly larger room through Amex Fine Hotels & Resorts, which we appreciated. At check-in, though, we were strongly encouraged to pay over $400 more per night for a higher-tier room with an Empire State view and club access, and were told those rooms were available for noon check-in. It felt like a sales pitch, unlike upgrades at other FHR properties where it felt like a perk, and set a slightly off tone. The shower controls are opposite the door, so turning it on almost guarantees getting hit with cold water. The windows were noticeably dirty. The bed wasn’t uncomfortable, but it sat unusually low and seemed to be a mattress topper on a box spring, an odd setup for a luxury hotel. Restaurant breakfast was only so-so compared with room service, and elevators were slow at busy times. Five-star hotels promise fewer downsides, and with some refinements and a less aggressive upsell, this could be a standout.
