The neighborhood seemed decent, and the beds were comfortable. It’s a pretty good place, not too far from the subway, and Mini Marts are close if you don’t mind a short walk. New York’s bus and train service runs 24 hours.

The staff were friendly, and the airport shuttle was free. Those were the bright spots. I paid almost $180 for one night, but the shower leaked and left the bathroom floor wet and slippery. The elevator meant for wheelchair access wasn’t working, even though I didn’t need it myself. Furniture crammed the room, with a very narrow way into the sitting area where the sofa was. There was nowhere to eat within walking distance apart from a Chinese takeout. I also had six large suitcases and there was no bell service, which made things harder.

The manager did call within 10 min after I contacted the corporate office, and comped us the one night. I guess that’s better than nothing, but with my wife heavily medicated after brain surgery, I didn’t want to move her, so we stayed in the same room. I was the only one looking after her and my options were limited. Earlier, the pullout bed I slept on was infested with bed bugs, and they chewed up my entire backside. My wife needed the bed because she’d just had surgery and needed a handicap accessible room. The wheelchair entrance is around back, but its door was broken. Around 0400 I went to the lobby after getting no sleep and spoke to a very nice desk clerk, completely unlike the clerk before. I was ill prepared to care for my wife. This was unacceptable, and we won’t stay here again. I’ll discourage other people from booking here.

Friendly, efficient staff, and the rooms are clean and functional, though small. This is a modest three storey hotel just off the Van Wyck expressway near JFK. Breakfast is free continental style, with limited options, and the guest 'pantry' is well stocked. There’s free parking in a small lot. If your room faces the service drive, nearby traffic makes it noisy.
