NY Moore Hostel

The common areas were great, the rooms spacious and clean, and there are lots of good food options nearby. I also really liked having a bigger bed instead of a twin. The location's convenient. WiFi was a little spotty, but it sorted itself out quickly.

Getting here from the airport is easy: take the train, then walk nine minutes. The hostel has free unlimited coffee and tea, hot water, Wi-Fi, and towels. There's also a kitchen with free heaters for cooking and plenty of room to store food. Basic items are available at good prices, and soap and toothpaste are sold nearby at normal prices if you don't bring your own. You can get spirits for just $1, too. I've stayed at this hostel before. Even though I'd made a reservation to get up once, an officer came and kicked me out at 4:00 in the morning, three or four hours before check-in. You can't wait there; they tell you it's time to leave and come back later. They don't care about service, quality, or how they treat guests. Definitely not worth going or staying.

The four-bed dorms are a good choice. It was easy to make friends, and the hostel has a relaxed atmosphere. My dorm had its own bathroom, which was convenient, and the staff were friendly. The guy working nights with the hat is a G and was helpful. Free tea and coffee was a lovely perk. I was there toward the end of October to visit a friend in Brooklyn and, of course, check out the thrift shops. The graffiti walls gave the place a cool, creative feel, and the location was good. Walking around after 9pm can feel a bit uneasy, so be cautious. With a friend or in an Uber, it's absolutely fine.
