SpringHill Suites by Marriott New York Midtown Manhattan

Sherrise at the front desk was wonderful. We were stuck at the hotel during the blizzard and she made sure we were looked after. The free breakfast was a nice extra. The bathroom's position in the middle of the room felt a little odd, though that's not the hotel's fault. The location worked well too, with subway stops about .3 to .5 away and Bryant Park just a couple blocks away.

The suite was a highlight: roomy, clean, and modern, with a comfy bed and a full kitchenette with a fridge, microwave, and sink. That extra space felt like a luxury in NYC, and it's handy for breakfast or snacks. The hotel is on 54th St in Midtown Manhattan, an easy walk to Fifth Avenue shopping, Rockefeller Center, MoMA, and subway lines. Times Square and Central Park are close enough for sightseeing, but you're not right in the middle of the chaos. Staff were friendly and check-in was quick, though a few requests took longer than I expected. The free hot breakfast usually had fresh eggs, waffles, yogurt, and other choices. Good value for a longer Midtown stay, and I'd consider coming back. Four stars.

The street is quiet and the location is ideal, right in a central area. But the room was dated and the upgrades looked poorly done, as if upkeep hadn't been a priority. The A/C made a loud noise every ten minutes before it died in the middle of the night. The accessible shower let water spread across the bathroom, and the bedding and pillows were low quality. We left after one night and moved to a hotel down the street. When we told staff early in the morning that the A/C was out and asked to switch rooms, they said none were available because the hotel was full. We expected a budget stay, but this fell short of every expectation and didn't match the Marriott brand. At this price, it feels like you're paying for the brand without consistent quality.

We had an easy check-in, and the stay was comfortable. The room was clean and warm enough even during a snowstorm, though quite small, which is what you'd expect in New York. The bed was comfortable too. There was a safe, microwave, and fridge in the room. Breakfast was included, but we didn't try it. The location was perfect, right in the middle of NYC and near K-town, with plenty of food options and easy access to get around.
