The staff were nice, which is the only reason I gave this two stars. We arrived at 2:40, were told check-in was at 3, and went back out because there was nowhere to sit. When we returned at 3, the room was still being cleaned, so we had to wait standing for another 15 minutes. The floor was dirty as soon as we came in, and nobody cleaned it during our five-day stay. We got one tiny shampoo for two people, and since it wasn’t replaced daily, we had to ask the desk for more. Nobody checked the room, and we used the same towels for all five days. The bed made a loud metallic sound whenever I moved, waking my partner. I can’t sleep without moving, so you can imagine how that went. There’s a lot this hotel needs to improve.

I was checked into a dirty room, and the whole place felt sketchy. It also smelled of cigarettes. It looks as though they spent money on nice website photos and possibly fake reviews. For tourists, be aware that the hotel is less than a block from the entrance to the Projects. My cab driver was very careful to drop me right at the hotel door.

We had a horrible stay, even if the hotel might be new. There was garbage all around just outside, and loud music and partying kept us awake at night. For $180 a day, I expected basic things a traveler needs, but there was no microwave or closet to hang clothes. They said parking would be available, but it wasn’t, so we had to leave the car on the road, which felt completely unsafe. I wouldn’t recommend this place.

The night staff member Arshiya was lovely, pleasant, and happy to help with any issue. My stay at the Thatford Hotel was good overall, though I had trouble with the heating and getting the key card to swipe properly. I’d come back.

I picked this new, affordable, clean and cozy hotel because it wasn’t too far from where I needed to be in the morning. The walls are a bit thin, and my stay ended much sooner than planned because young people were yelling and fighting. With the location, I worry that this could make it a terrible experience for guests and that the hotel may not last.
