Hampton Inn & Suites Wilmington Christiana

My room was spacious, quiet, and relaxing, and the service was great. Housekeeping missed me once, but staff apologized and sorted it out. I was happy with my choice of hotel. The exterior looked lovely, with a bench outside and a pretty driveway that brings you right to the entrance. Inside felt elegant but still cozy, and you can see the breakfast room with its different seating areas. Continental breakfast is free from 6-10, and coffee is available around the clock, along with tea and lemon water. There's also an indoor pool and exercise room. The location worked well for restaurants, stores, and Christiana Mall. The snack area is there, but the prices are very high, like $5 for a 20 oz soda.

The rooms weren't cleaned while we were there, and there was peeling paint on the doors and hallway. Moldy old caulk seemed to have been covered with a fresh layer around the tub. We also didn't feel safe around the run-down parking lot, especially with the fire-damaged hotel building across the street boarded up but apparently occupied as of September 2025. The front desk staff didn't seem experienced with customer service, and we felt unwelcome. I've never been this disappointed. I wouldn't stay here again for a lot of reasons, including these, and I can't recommend it to anyone.

The clerks were all good at their jobs, and the chef made a great breakfast each morning. The one snag was housekeeping never came to our suite, so we went to the desk for towels, tissues, soap, and other supplies. If they were out, someone brought them to our door. We handled our own trash, so there was no reason to leave a tip. Otherwise, it was a very nice place.

Really clean, great room, and the friendliest hotel people I've met. I'd stay here again.
