Super 8 Newburgh

I booked a room to stay near a party and only went in to change clothes. When I arrived, police were all over the place, and complaints from other guests I’d sent the link to about bed bugs put me off staying, so I drove home. The female manager was rude when I called about a refund and only gave me part of it. Awful experience. If I could give less than one star, I would. Don’t stay here.

It’s about 30 minutes from West Point Military Academy, if that matters to you. The rates seem like something from the 1990s, and the mattress, towels and amenities feel just as dated. It didn’t meet Wyndham standards by any measure. You get what you pay for, though. Would I stay again? No.

The staff were very nice, and my room was clean. I checked for bugs and didn’t find any, but the refrigerator smelled like vomit. The hallways are uneven enough to be a serious tripping hazard, and getting to the room was difficult, with no proper access for people with disabilities. It badly needs upgrades. The rooms are cheap, but I’m surprised the place is still in business.

The TV screen didn’t work, and the hall ceilings were sagging with water stains. You could hear every step from upstairs. Weekday breakfast was a joke: no juice, no coffee creamer, just about a dozen instant oatmeal packets. I’m not coming back.
