Days Inn by Wyndham Newport

I wouldn’t stay here again. The towel rack was partly off the bathroom wall, and the shower was so low that even at 5'3" I had to duck to get under the water. There was food left in the refrigerator from the previous guest, and the carpets were crusty. We didn’t feel safe, so we put a chair in front of the door. Shame on you, Days Inn Wydhsm.

I ended up sleeping in my car after turning down the room, even though I’d been driving all day and just needed a bed. The room door was already open, the lock was broken, and the bed had stains, hair, and other debris. There were burn marks on both the floor and bed in a non-smoking room. The pool looked like a bad science experiment, and the outside seemed abandoned. The check-in clerks were nice, but when I asked for a refund, they said they couldn’t do it right then. Calling later got me an attitude and the suggestion I was lying about the room. This is the worst motel I’ve ever not stayed at. Stay away, you’ll catch something there.

The place felt like an old, rundown hotel from the late 80s or early 90s. It took me back to when I was a teenager, traveling to my uncle Bo’s funeral with my mom, who’s since passed away. I was first assigned a smoking room and couldn’t even get through the doorway. After what felt like forever, they gave me a non-smoking room, and I was exhausted enough to just want sleep. Instead, there were spiders everywhere, the carpet had an old melted iron mark, and the AC barely worked. The refrigerator was completely out, there was no shower curtain, and the toilet barely flushed. The towels looked like they’d been tossed into the bathroom at random. The curtains were badly sun-bleached and full of holes, and the duvets had bleach stains and cigarette burns. It was raining when I arrived, and the employee leaving work had blocked the whole driveway under the overhang, though there should have been space for more than one car. Check out my pool pictures.
