The Brenton Hotel

We enjoyed a lovely afternoon at the bar, even though we didn’t stay at The Brenton Hotel. Kathy at the concierge was welcoming and accommodating from the start. Olivia was lovely as she poured the wine and guided us through it, and Maurice was the star, making thoughtful, balanced cocktails with real care. Emmett also stood out for his polished, attentive manner and natural hospitality. The visit alone makes The Brenton worth a stop. We’ll be back, next time to stay overnight.

For our anniversary, this was an ideal choice. It’s quiet and elegant, with thoughtful design, and the service was attentive without hovering. My gin cocktail came beautifully presented, with subtle herbal notes. A lovely place for a special occasion.

I booked through AMEX Fine Hotels and received the included perks. On arrival, my room was upgraded, which I think was because I visited during the slow season when more rooms were available. I’d read several reviews beforehand and was happy with my experience at The Brenton Hotel. The property is beautifully maintained, and the service stood out. David at the front desk arranged the upgrade and gave me a list of restaurants he recommended. He was so personable I could have talked with him for hours. McKenzie, another front desk staff member, was just as pleasant and a great conversationalist. The staff seem to genuinely enjoy working there. Breakfast was phenomenal. My sister and I had avocado toast every morning for three days. A woman working at a desk on the main floor was observant and attentive. She seemed to be the manager, and when she noticed we hadn’t been greeted for breakfast after a couple of minutes, she made sure someone came over to take our coffee orders. The strong management showed in the service. Housekeeping was the one inconsistency. One morning the room was below standard, and the beds were barely made. That was especially disappointing after I left a generous tip, and it didn’t match the excellent work from the other housekeepers, who went above and beyond on the remaining days. Staying here was an absolute treat, better than I could have imagined. I hope to return to Rhode Island just to stay at The Brenton Hotel again.

My fiancée and I took a weekend trip to RI, and staying at The Brenton made the trip. CJ and the valet team were amazing from the start, and the rooms were spacious, very clean, and beautifully set up. The restaurant food was great too. I booked through Amex Fine Hotels and Resorts, and the 4pm checkout, $100 credit, and free breakfast made it 100x worth it. Can’t wait to come back.
