The Butler House B&B

Breakfast was a surprise highlight: Taiwanese scallion pancakes with egg and sausage, followed by a huge blueberry crumble with whipped cream. I would’ve liked ketchup with the first course, but there was sriracha and soy sauce, and the portions were so generous that most of us were full before the second plate. They’re right that you may not need lunch afterward. I had plenty of energy for walking around Goat Island. I booked the Regatta room after being disappointed by the hotel options nearby. Before I arrived, Jaime and Dan asked about dietary restrictions and how they could make things comfortable. They checked my ETA and sent useful late check-in instructions on my first night. The house felt cozy and homey, in a peaceful neighborhood. The first floor was lovely, with a foyer, front porch, bathroom, dining room, and a big porch swing that I enjoyed in the evening breeze. There were snacks, fruit, coffee pods, and tea in the foyer, plus a piano for anyone who can play. The Regatta room upstairs was very large, clean, and well kept. Its sunroom had two plush couches, white curtains, and a heating lamp, a nice spot for reading with tea. I wished the bedroom outlets had USB chargers too, since those were only in the sunroom. The bed was soft and roomy, the TV had Disney+, and the AC was on the wall. I also liked having all the light switches by the bed. The bathroom was nicely set up, with room for my skincare bottles, small hand towels, soap, body wash, shampoo, and conditioner. I recognized the Olay and Pantene by their familiar smell. The water pressure was great, though the shower itself was a bit small. I had to figure out that one of the four switches turned on the hot water heater. The large bath towel and robe were a lovely touch. Tea, apple cider, orange juice, and coffee were served with breakfast at 8:30am. This bed and breakfast has set a high bar for future stays. I’d absolutely come back to The Butler House if I visit Niagara Falls again.

What convinced us to book was the Butler House website, which was so informative and well done. We hadn’t expected the people behind it to be so present, or to add so much to our stay. Jamie and Dan were open and friendly, and made us feel lucky to spend two nights in their beautiful home. Our room was comfortable and immaculately clean, with an easy walk to the falls. We also enjoyed two hearty, delicious breakfasts and the interesting people we shared the table with. It made a lovely start to each morning.

The attached sunroom was a favorite, perfect for coffee in the morning or relaxing later in the day. We had great breakfasts, and the friendly hosts shared useful information about local places and restaurants. The house is within walking distance of Niagara Falls. We’d stay again if we return.

You can walk safely and easily to everything we wanted to do at the falls. The beds were comfortable, the neighborhood quiet, the towels big and fluffy, and breakfast excellent. We met Jamie as soon as we came in and immediately felt at home. The Butler House is a real gem, and I can’t think of a better place to stay.
