The lobby seemed clean when we arrived, but that was about the only encouraging part. We’d driven over 14 hours with family to Destin, and the stay went downhill fast. Our Queen Suite didn’t match the photos: the advertised second room with a couch, sink, and TV only had the pull-out couch. The building reeked of old cigarette smoke, and I found dirt behind the decorative towel by the sink and mold around the light over the couch. Breakfast was rough too, with hard biscuits, pancakes stuck to the plate, and kitchen staff being loud and unprofessional at 6 a.m. I overheard them talking about housekeeping not changing bedding properly, which worried me. The laundry was $8 for one medium load, and the pool wasn’t really usable for swimming. We were in a separate building, so getting breakfast meant going outside early each morning. That wasn’t a deal breaker, just inconvenient. The staff and cleanliness fell short, and I won’t come back. It might work for a strict budget, but you get what you pay for.

Everyone was very nice in Niceville, and the hotel itself was clean and comfortable. We also got 10% off food at the nearby Ruby Tuesday, which was almost right by the parking lot. Their salad bar is still good. The weak point was breakfast: dry biscuits, paper thin bacon, milk from a jug, and odd little omelettes. I don’t expect a free breakfast to be gourmet, but I’ve had much better.

We only stayed one night, and the room was clean. Restaurants, fast food, and gas are all close by, so there’s not much driving around. The pool is listed as open all year, but without heat it’s not much use when the weather’s cool. The morning desk clerk was friendly. The evening one had no personality, though. I know work can be rough, but she could at least fake a smile.

The deposit came back less than ten minutes after we checked out, which was nice. Breakfast was decent, though nothing amazing. The hotel was clean and well kept, and the staff were really friendly.

I travel for work a lot, and this is the best hotel I’ve stayed at along the coast. The beds are decent, and the place is clean. Staff were friendly and helpful too.
