I work about 3 miles from here, so the location is ideal for me. The staff were consistently professional, effective, and ready to help with questions or problems. My room had plenty of livable space, a full kitchen with a dishwasher, a full closet, and a pull-out sofa. It’s a great hotel.
We drove more than seven hours for a family vacation and booked a bedroom suite for four nights, over a month and a half ahead, for $383.90. Just two hours before check-in, April called to say the guest in our reserved room had extended their stay, so it wasn’t available. She offered a “deluxe” room with a bed and pull-out sofa in one small area, instead of a separate bedroom and living room. I took it because finding another hotel at that point seemed difficult. The offered reduction was only $40, from $383 to $343, for both the smaller room and the disruption. April seemed unconcerned about that or my questions, and her replies came across as casual and unprofessional. At check-in, the employee was polite, but quoted $353, not the $343 April had promised on the phone. The building and room were filthy. Stains and globs of who knows what covered the floors and stairs. Despite a “no smoking” sign outside, the building smelled of marijuana and cigarettes. Our room had dust in the corners, sticky floors and counters, a stained bathtub, and a dirty couch. The sofa bed mattress was worn and wrinkled, with red stains I couldn’t identify, and the couch smelled faintly of urine. There was trash underneath it, including dirt, used plastic utensils, crumbs, and a drink container. I felt stuck there, so I tried to sanitize things with the cleaning supplies I’d brought. They had no extra pillows for my daughter. I saw three or four small roaches, and my husband saw some separately. The room also had basic problems: the oven door wouldn’t shut, so it couldn’t hold heat for cooking, and the fridge was barely cooler than room temperature. Some groceries spoiled. The tub drained so slowly that showering meant standing in two or three inches of dirty water. Smoke from people actively smoking next door seeped into our room and lingered on our clothes and blankets. The ice machine in our building was broken, and the power flickered on and off despite there being no bad weather. The worst problem was the door. It would not lock properly, and we already didn’t feel clean or comfortable there. My husband was afraid someone could walk in while our family slept, and couldn’t sleep through the night. He reported it the next morning and staff said they’d fix it, but during our four-night stay it wasn’t repaired. We weren’t offered a different room or a discount. Because of the door, we had to pack and unpack our car whenever we left. My husband remained worried about our safety, and my daughter, my husband, and I had to share the queen bed because the sofa bed was in such bad shape. I felt our whole stay was a zero out of ten. We told staff about our main concerns, the price and the door, but nothing was done to meet our needs. I think we should get our money back.
I spent 31 days here. The room was spacious enough and the staff were nice, but some ongoing problems soured the stay. In room 312, the shower only gave scalding hot water, even at its coldest setting, and they never fixed it. A light in the far stairwell kept flickering. That didn’t bother me personally, but one of my partners has epilepsy and couldn’t use those stairs. The biggest irritation was how the dog paperwork and fees were handled. At check-in we told staff we had two ESA service animals. They charged for one, and I paid over $500 upfront, including the refundable deposit, pet fee, and first week. They forgot to give me the forms for the dogs, even though staff saw them and greeted and petted them throughout that first week. Later, a woman I thought of as a “Karen” tried to push into the elevator while I was taking my Dalmatian mix for a walk. He’s friendly and excited to meet people, and likes to jump. She claimed he was attacking her and reported me to the front desk. It felt stalkerish and creepy that she knew my room number and where I was, but whatever. The desk then called asking me to fill in the forms. Fine, they’d forgotten and I’d comply. Still, I got a $250 penalty for not filing the paperwork during the first week, plus a pet fee for the one service animal. Service animals aren’t supposed to have pet fees, but again, whatever. What bothered me was that staff had known about the dogs and interacted with them. I was penalized for their mistake. Even after I explained, they insisted I owed that and the pet fee, about $400 total, including the first-week fee I’d already paid. Milton and the staff were nice otherwise, but I’ll have to call corporate. After that mess, the rest of the stay was okay. The fire alarms went off occasionally, and sometimes there was a very strong smell of that sticky-icky. I’m fine with 420, but this was strong as hell. The beds were comfortable, the room had nice AC, and it was easy to get around from the location.
Room 120 was a condemned-looking dump, with roaches roaming around and junkies outside my window all night. They took a $100 deposit and never returned it, as if I’d damaged the place. I slept upright by the window to keep an eye on my car. Management will probably call this a rare incident, but it isn’t. Check the reviews. If I could give less than one star, I would.
My mom and I lived here for almost a year because it was the only extended stay I could find that felt like a two-bedroom apartment and met our needs. The price kept going up. For the first six months, we dealt with a serious pest problem and bugs every day while paying over $600 a week. The hotel is quiet during the day when everyone is working, but nights can get too noisy. There are a lot of dogs, and it’s good for kids because of the bus pickup. The cable is decent and the location is great. April, the property manager, was cold and rude in most of our interactions, always on the defensive as if we were bothering her. Other staff seemed to follow her poor customer service. Milton was okay, treated people respectfully, and showed good hospitality. I’m glad we finally moved out and moved on.
