Courtyard Bloomington Normal

The pool and hot tub were the main reason we booked, to keep our 4- and 6-year-olds entertained. We found both drained and closed indefinitely, despite them being shown on the website and Expedia. The room was disgusting too. The fridge had no shelves and mold inside, the shower drain was clogged so the shower filled like a 3-inch-deep tub, and the shampoo dispenser was empty. My wife’s hair dryer was sticky and had what looked like toilet paper on it. There wasn’t even breakfast included. Worst $200 room I’ve ever paid for. This place is awful, and I can’t understand how Marriott still lets its name be on the building.

The bed was comfortable, the pillows were fluffy, and the AC was quiet, but for the price I’d look elsewhere next time. It didn’t feel up to the standard of a 3-star hotel. The room needs updating. There were stains down the wallpaper, screws where a mirror used to be, and a fridge that was cold but leaking. The damaged cabinets suggest it’s been leaking for a while. The shower caulk had black mold or mildew spots, and there weren’t enough outlets for charging devices.

The fitness center was dirty and poorly equipped, and the room surfaces and walls looked like they hadn’t been washed. There were also grime and visible spots that looked like bodily fluids on the shower walls. Painter’s tape and water stains on the bathroom ceiling made the repair work look unfinished. I did appreciate the helpful staff and clean linens, but I can’t give a positive review of my stay at the Courtyard Bloomington-Normal. I’ll likely stay somewhere else next time I’m in the area.

The staff really made us feel welcome. They were friendly, helpful, and went out of their way for us. The food was very good too, and the indoor pool was a nice surprise, with comfortably warm water. It’s an easy, convenient spot near ISU and campus, and the rooms are spacious and very clean. I’d recommend booking one with a balcony. It brings in a refreshing breeze and makes the room feel open and airy. The property is a little dated, but it’s very well maintained and spotless. It’s great value for the price, whether you’re visiting briefly or coming for an ISU event. Highly recommend.
