Courtyard Norman

The beds were comfortable, though the sheets felt rough, and the room was clean but nothing special. The elevator moved so slowly that I mostly took the stairs. There are only three floors, so that wasn't a big deal. Staff were sparse, and there was no free breakfast, no upgrades for premium status members, and no dedicated parking for them either. This didn't feel like a typical Marriott, and it was definitely below most big-city Marriotts.

The mattresses were hard and uncomfortable, and the room refrigerator didn't work. We only found out after our food and drinks had spoiled. We won't stay here again. The Bistro staff were argumentative, often in the back talking while customers waited, and things were constantly out of stock. They kept saying the truck would arrive Friday, but on Saturday milk and other items were still unavailable. When we asked for milk, we were told it was expired. The menu felt like false advertising: they said items weren't available, including a black cherry old fashioned because they were out of Maker's Mark and other ingredients. The bartender acted like our order was a bother. The staff also argued openly with the hotel manager in the lobby. We were told a breakfast bowl wasn't available and that the menu was “false advertising.” They said the same about loaded tots. When I complained and asked them to just tell me what they did have, suddenly they could make the bowl. It seemed like staff were lazy and didn't want to work.

I booked the room 2 months ahead, but at check-in the front desk told me rooms only get blocked on the day, no matter how early you reserve. Mine wasn't available. They said I was apparently the last check-in, so I got whatever room was left.

The place was clean and the staff were nice, but the rooms felt dated, with very hard, old beds. There was a musty hotel smell, and the hot water was lukewarm at best. For the price, I'd pass and won't stay here again.
