The young man at the desk was very nice, the room was clean, and the beds were SO COMFY! Still, there was a stale old cigarette smell from the lobby all the way into the room. The pool could use a remodel but was okay. The hot tub seemed sketchy, so we used neither. The price had apparently doubled to $230 a night because of Memorial Day weekend and some other things going on. I get supply and demand, but it wasn't worth that much.

We booked a last-minute extended weekend through GovX, and the process was seamless. A very kind gentleman at the front desk found us in the system quickly, gave us our keys, and went over what we needed to know. Our updated, well-kept king room was a comfortable temperature. The bed was great, though the pillows could've been firmer, and the walk-in shower and water pressure were excellent. Breakfast each morning had a very good selection and tasted good. My husband and I stayed five days and have nothing negative to say about the hotel or its staff. They helped make a wonderful memory while we were visiting Charleston. We'll return.

Service was okay, but the elevator didn't work and the parking lot needs repaving. The room smelled funky, possibly because the AC was having issues. The showerhead fell off, and there wasn't a do-not-disturb sign anywhere in the room.

The hot breakfast was top of the line each morning, and the women serving and restocking it were more than pleasant. I stayed in an ADA accessible room and didn't have much trouble getting around. This hotel was recommended by an employee, a friend of my daughter's girlfriend, who insisted we not stay at the other place we'd picked for our Charleston vacation. What soured the stay was losing my medical back brace. After the first leg of our flight home, I realized I'd left it in the room and contacted the hotel right away. For a week, I got the runaround, and then they finally told me they couldn't find it. Each person I spoke with either had wrong information or led me to believe the right people were handling it. It turned out even the GM didn't know about my week-long search. Nobody seemed to know what the others were doing, and passing the buck seemed to be everyone's favorite thing. They promised callbacks, but I had to call every day to try to reach the right people, only to be put off until the next day. How they handled my lost item left a very sour taste and left me disheartened about the whole stay.
