The location is a real plus, close to just about everything in North Conway, and the grounds looked even nicer than the website suggested. Check-in was easy, the staff were friendly, and the room was clean and comfortable. The beds and linens were good quality, the microwave, Keurig, and full-size refrigerator all worked well, and the little table gave my teenagers and me a place to eat takeout. The AC worked, and despite being pet friendly, the room had no pet, smoke, or other bad smells. I’ve owned a Wyndham timeshare for a long time and had Silver VIP status for at least 15 years, so my expectations are usually high. This was a great place, though a few fixes could have made it five stars. The balcony railing needs repair, which staff already knew about and seemed keen to address. There’s only basic cable, so a movie rental option would be handy on a rainy day or late at night. A small in-room guide to restaurants and activities would help families make plans, even though the front office has plenty of brochures. We were in room 216, at the far end of the back building beside the train tracks. There’s no barrier between the lawn and the tracks, so I wouldn’t pick that room with small kids. The train passed slowly and didn’t bother us, and being near the center of town and a local attraction probably explains why it runs there. The grounds were at the very start of the season, so the Jacuzzi wasn’t filled yet, and the playground could use a cleanup after Memorial Day. I didn’t see anything unsafe or broken. One other thing: housekeeping came in before checkout and startled me. They didn’t come all the way inside, were kind, and shut the door right away, but a physical chain lock would have given more security. As a medical provider, I’m very aware that a simple chain could prevent unnecessary alarm for someone with PTSD. I’d happily come back.

We were really pleased with the room: very clean, fully stocked, and the beds were comfortable. The location is handy too, right among restaurants and shops. We’ll return and tell our friends about it. We called at the last minute after the office had closed, and they still met us with the keys and explained the service. Andria at the front desk was especially friendly, smiling as she helped us, which made a big difference. Thanks for a great stay.

I come back to Golden Gables whenever I’m in North Conway. I’ve stayed at some disappointing places around town, but this hotel has consistently been a pleasant one. It’s also right in the heart of the White Mountans, which works perfectly for me as someone who hikes and snowboards. The room was clean and well cared for, the beds were comfortable, and it had what I needed, including a fridge, microwave, and nice TV. After a long mountain hike, the jucuzzi tub was a treat. The outside looked clean and welcoming, and Andria at the desk was, as usual, friendly and really helpful. It’s easy to get around from here: 110 Grill is on the adjacent property, Starbucks and Dunkin are both a minute away, and Market Basket and outlet shopping are close by too. Comfortable feel, good service, and a great spot.

We got a king suite, and having the extra space was nice. The bed was comfortable, the bathroom was decent, and although the rooms look a little dated in the photos, ours was clean. The staff greeted us warmly. The one issue was that we felt cold. We turned the thermostat up, and the display showed 85 when we pressed the up arrow, but the room still seemed chilly. Maybe the rooms in that block are controlled by another thermostat in the main office. The hotel doesn’t serve breakfast, so we went down the street to Peaches, which we’d heard was phenomenal. It really was. We were visiting from California and found this to be a decent place to stay.
