Motel 6 North Richland Hills, TX – Rufe Snow

My company booked several rooms for a few days during the January 2025 snowpocalypse. Everything around us was freezing and nearby businesses were closed, so there wasn't much available. The motel's one offering was supposedly a hot cup of coffee, but only if you were around at 6 am. My work started at 3 or 4 am, and when I asked for coffee, they wouldn't help. They didn't seem to care that temperatures were below freezing and everything nearby was shut. They were just rude about it. If my company paid $200 a room, we should at least have been able to get a cup of coffee. The beds were extremely uncomfortable, and the rooms felt empty and run-down, like a ghost town. I wouldn't recommend this location.

For $65 on a Saturday night, the room was a pleasant surprise. My mom uses a rollator, so we asked for an accessible room. A couple of hours before check-in, I was told there wasn't one with a walk-in shower, but there was a first-floor room. I checked that she'd have space to get around the bed and furniture with her rollator, and there was plenty. The hardwood floors were easier for her than carpet, and the bathroom was spacious. The bed pillows were very flat, but the staff quickly brought two big, fluffy ones when I asked for extras. The heater was on at 70 degrees when we arrived, a bit warm for us, so I turned it down. It was remarkably quiet, unlike most motel room heaters. The one drawback was the parking-lot-facing room: even with blackout curtains, light leaked in around the edges, enough to make it seem like sunrise at 3 am. If we're in the area again, we'll definitely stay here.

The non-smoking room smelled strongly of smoke, and the front desk lady was rude and unprofessional. She accused me of taking a trash can. They knocked on my door four times between 9:30 and 11, and when checkout is at 11, they mean it. No late checkout, they'll stand right outside your door. The window was about 60 lbs to open and slammed shut as soon as I let go, so I propped it with the trash can. Then she yelled at me for using it that way. I hope someone can talk to her or find better help. From her attitude, she may own the place. I'm sure I'm not the first person to complain.

The male receptionist apologized and did his best, but this place needs to get it together if it expects people to pay that much. The female clerk was rude, throwing things at us and acting like we were children. Before checkout time, housekeeping came in and threw away all our food while we were outside walking our dog. The clerk was rude when we brought it up and acted as if it was our fault for leaving the food while we walked the dog. The bathroom door looked like Jason had tried to break it down, and the tub was filthy. They wouldn't give us enough towels, so we had to share. People also leave dog mess around, and I ruined a pair of $200 shoes. Starting under a bridge might have been better.
