Motel 6 North Sioux City, SD I 29 North

I can’t explain why I felt singled out and threatened on my second visit to this motel. I’d paid for my reservation and was quiet in my room, but the man at reception yelled at me and said he’d call the police for no reason. Even though he’s an adult, he was the rudest, most racist, and most disrespectful person. I don’t recommend this place because of how that gentleman treated me, not because of its condition. I don’t understand how someone with so little education can work somewhere where customer care is the foundation.

It was easy to get in and out, and they require a $50-100 deposit depending on whether you have a pet. But the price for a little Motel 6 is absolutely insane, especially since there’s no breakfast or even coffee. The pool is shut down, just stagnant water, though after reading reviews carefully I expected it to be open and running. I didn’t notice any bugs, but my kid woke up with two swollen bites on her arm. I’m glad I didn’t bring in all my linens and clothes. Trying to match the prices around them and charging this much feels disgusting and disappointing, like taking advantage of people just because you own a hotel.

Room 111 was clean enough, the beds were okay, and there were no bugs. For a low-budget stay, it was pretty standard. There were some wall dings, odd repairs, and torn linen. At check-in we were told pets must stay off the beds. The room felt and smelled a bit dank, and could have used a dehumidifier. It was closest to the indoor pool, whose heater wasn’t working, so the water was cold. For the price, it’s what you’d expect.

The room was usable, but it needed some holes in the walls patched. I couldn’t get help at the desk to change my checkout date, and the man at the front desk was rude.
