The Notch Hostel

Bathrooms were spotless, everyone was helpful, and there are tons of amenities with beautiful scenery. There’s also plenty of nature tucked away from snooping eyes and the populace. They even have pictures of moose up, which is awesome 👌. If you need somewhere after a tiring day burying some person-sized bags in the local area, this is the place. No questions asked, no issues.

Loved the atmosphere here, and I had a great stay first in a bunk bed and later in a private room. Free pancakes at 5:30am before a hike, with Frank Sinatra playing in the background, how do you top that? Thank you, Walmart! You are so kind! Afterwards, we relaxed by the fireplace with friends and strangers. Loved it.

A real hikers hostel, and it goes out of its way to give guests what they need, even laundry. The staff were great and clearly work hard to keep the place tidy. The location worked well for my hike, and it was only a 5-10 min drive to dinner in town. One heads-up: the top floor gets very warm before you get into your room, which was thankfully much cooler. The bed was pretty small for a 6ft 1 guy, so keep that in mind. It’s only a slight negative, but worth mentioning. If you’re not used to the hiking crowd, some of the guests might be a little culture shock, though everyone is friendly and respectful.

The kitchen had everything I needed to cook, and there were plenty of books and games to pass the time. The beds were comfortable, the staff friendly, and the whole house was immaculately clean. This was my first hostel stay, and I honestly don’t think it could have gone better. The Notch Hostel has a warm-hearted community feel that I really enjoyed. I’ll definitely be back!
