Fairfield Inn & Suites Springfield Northampton/Amherst

The rooms were nicely furnished and well kept, and the property was spotless. Breakfast had fresh choices, too. Fiona, Nathaniel, and the whole team at Fairfield Inn Northampton were kind and attentive, and made us feel right at home. We had a very comfortable, welcoming stay, and it’s an easy place to recommend.

Eliza made breakfast a highlight. She kept the stations stocked with a positive attitude, and was pleasant and energetic. Marriott is lucky to have her, and people like her make guests want to return. The breakfast spread was plentiful with a good variety. The hotel also seems brand new, and I didn’t notice any flaws apart from the room door, which the contractor hadn’t aligned properly. Light came through the gap from the hallway, so we stuffed it with toilet paper. One suggestion: put a white light by the bathroom sink for makeup. The existing lights are too dim, and I started thinking about buying a portable white makeup light. Amazon, here I come.

The pool was a hit with my son. He had a good time burning off energy and said it was really nice. Breakfast was generous, and the morning staff kept everything filled and even helped the little kids learn to make waffles. Everyone was friendly, including a young man at the front desk that evening who was helpful throughout. Our room was clean, and the only snag was that the pullout couch sheets were too small. They brought replacements quickly. It felt like Southern hospitality up in the Northeast.

We’d booked a night to visit our son at college, but he got sick the day before, well over 24 hours before check-in. I called to cancel and asked for a refund or a certificate for another night, since it wasn’t a cheap stay and this was meant to be a special visit. They said no. The front desk was kind, but management wouldn’t budge, and we lost the money we’d saved for the trip. Be aware that the cancellation notice is 48 hours, not 24 like at most places.
