Renaissance Chicago North Shore Hotel

I used the hotel both as a guest and to teach a class in one of its conference rooms. The conference space was beautiful, and the auditorium was set up perfectly for presentations before class began. Rooms are clean, modern, and well arranged, with comfortable beds and lots of TV channels. The hallways and elevators also look crisp and inviting. Staff were welcoming and helpful. The location is great, close to lots of restaurants. There’s a Ruth's Chris on site and a more casual restaurant by the lobby. I’d gladly stay again and highly recommend it.

We came for a coaching conference in October, and the conference spaces were very impressive, comfortable and well equipped for a full day of sessions. Our room was spotless and suited a short stay well, with comfortable beds, great pillows, and a strong, relaxing shower. From arrival, the hotel looked beautiful and check-in was easy. The staff gave us nearby dining suggestions and told us about the hotel restaurant, where the food was good and the drinks even better. They also reminded us about the attached Ruth's Chris. If I need a place in the area again, this is top of my list. Highly recommend.

The room was comfortable and clean, and despite the noisy heating system I slept fine after a 9-hour flight. The noise didn’t bother me much that night, but in my room it was very loud. This feels like an older hotel: the elevators were noisy, their buttons looked worn, the main revolving entrance door was broken throughout my stay, and I noticed water leaks and other maintenance issues. It’d be useful to have a door hanger to opt out of daily room service. I don’t need fresh towels every day, and skipping them saves water. For a four-star place, it could use a renovation. Plenty of three-star hotels nearby could give it a run for its status.

The hotel was really nice, with friendly, helpful staff and amazing food. I told the staff about a problem with my tub, but it never got fixed. The north and south towers also ought to be more alike, since the north tower seems much nicer.
