The room and front desk service were okay, and breakfast was very basic, with little to choose from and watered-down juice. The keys also failed several times, so I had to keep going back to the desk. The pool area didn’t have enough towels, and the cleaning crew only showed up in a rush around checkout. My deposit was returned in full, but three days later there was an unauthorized $10 charge. When I called, the manager was rude and said it was for a stained towel. I always do a final walk-through and had checked the towels, which had no stains. I asked for a photo and got one four hours later, three or four days after checkout and after the deposit had already been returned. It looked like staff had gathered a towel after my call and staged a quick photo after wiping something dirty from the hotel onto it. It wasn’t stained with blood, paint, dye, or anything like that. It was just dirty. I contacted Corporate and opened a case, not over the $10 itself but because of the principle and concern about how many other guests might have been scammed this way. When I asked the manager to reverse the charge, she agreed with an attitude and pretty much hung up on me. I still haven’t seen the reversal and plan to contact Corporate again. This was my first and last stay at comfort inn ste @ 191 Lawrence dr. Vacaville, ca. Previous guests should check their accounts and beware.

A quiet, comfortable stay, with a clean, well-kept hotel and a really friendly, helpful front desk. Housekeeping was great, too. It felt like home away from home. If you’re in Vacaville, stay at the Comfort Suites on Lawrence Dr.

We only stayed one night and won’t come back. The room was $113, but I put down a $200 cash deposit, $100 more than I usually do. Our key card had to be redone four times because it wouldn’t open the back door. We booked specifically to enjoy the spa, but it was only 80 degrees, barely warmer than the pool, so we didn’t get in. We went for breakfast at 6:45, hoping for a nice meal, but all the cereal was gone. The coffee and milk were in small thermos-style containers, and the coffee wasn’t warm with no way to keep it that way. The eggs and sausage were cold, and I’m pretty sure the eggs were powdered. I took two eggs and two pieces of sausage to the room, one of each for me and one of each as a treat for my dog. My dog sniffed his plate and walked away, so mine went in the trash too. At checkout, they said they’d charge a $15 fee because a washcloth was stained. I asked how they could know it was a stain before it had even been washed. After we left, I saw on the receipt and my Venmo account that I’d been charged $216 for the $113 room. Checkout had already taken 35 minutes and we were behind schedule, but we had to go back to find out why. The front desk woman said her coworker had checked us in wrong and that I’d have to wait 5 to 10 business days for a refund. I said I shouldn’t have to wait because of an employee mistake. She told me to call the manager on Tuesday, even though it was Saturday, and said she couldn’t reach the manager or refund the $100 from the register. Choice Hotels corporate gave me the same runaround as the front desk. I’ll contact the manager Tuesday to sort it out. I recommend Motel 6 next door instead. Gone are the days of decent customer service. I also want to know what magical power the cleaning staff have to identify a stain before washing it.

The bed was comfortable, and the pool was relaxing. The hot tub could’ve been warmer, but we’ll be back.
